The golden metal plate
and cards in transition
The cash- and credit cards availiable on the payment market today are put in a technical process to change. The familiar structure with a magnet strip on the backside of the card is to be replaced by a small golden metal plate - a chip. Today it is very common to have both a magnetic strip and a chip, but in due time, the magnetic strip will disappear, worldwide.
The initiative of this change has been taken by Europay, MasterCard and VISA. The chip-technique is therefor called EMV.
